Taembe Orismekusa
|
| Taembe Orismekusa is a
multimedia artist, choreographer, teacher and researcher.
Her choreography and dedication to the arts has launched
her into new worlds of creative exploration nationally and
internationally, including Central America, Europe and the
Caribbean. The focus of her choreographic work has been
the creation of a dynamic and spontaneous fusion of
Western dance arts and non-Western dance traditions.
Ms. orismekusa views herself as a
visual artist who performs music and dance while creating
dramatic theatrical works. Her body of dance work is influenced
by modern dance, Hip-Hop, classical West African dance,
Afro-Brazilian dance and Capoiera (Afro-Brazilian martial
art) and Afro-Cuban folklorico. The philosophical basis of
her style is also informed by the energies cultivated
Odissi dance, (a classical Indian dance form), Taoism and
Kundalini yoga. Within each dance style, Ms
orismekusa has and continues to receive training. |
